1/15/2024 0 Comments 35m mos redditThat's apparent: you can not be contracted to do a job you have no experience in. Yes, you won't get a 'high speed' contracting job without experience. So go ahead and finish that up, because if you join the army before finishing your degree, eventually the day will come when you say "damn I shoulda finished my degree." And as I am finishing my degree while on active duty I can vouch, it's not easy balancing MOS duties, NCO duties school and family.Īs far as contracting companies.that wasn't in your original question, but another post mentioned it. YES experience is good, in the end a 'three letter' government agency requires at least a bachelors degree.in many cases they want a masters. I only meant if your already pursuing your degree outside the military- Finish it and see what happens with the agency of your choice. It appears that many of the other comments disagree with me, which is their right. Enlist to be James Bond, end up as the duty platoon. Source: Just had this conversation with the 1SG about why the HUMINT platoons's had all the discipline issues. However, the MI community is a great way to network, you would be surprised what some of the contractors used to do, and who they still know. The way things are going HUMINT operations are about to stop, completely. If you want to be marketable you need real analysis experience. Check out the Reserves also, some of the unit's on the East coast support certain agencies. I would encourage you to go SIGINT, or IMINT, these MOS's get to support real operations all over the world from garrison. I'm not saying the Army is a bad route into the intel world. The war in Afghanistan will be over by the time you come out of the IET pipeline. One other note, 3 letter agencies normally don't care what you did if you don't have deployment experience. Not the 35M's, those guy end up writing the Bn newsletter and helping out the supply SGT. All of the other MI series MOS's have the capability to train in peacetime, SIGINT, MASINT, OSINT, IMINT, etc. They've been crazy busy for about 12 years now but that is going to stop. Out of all the MI series jobs, the 35M's have no peace time function. Here's the deal about the 35M series, the President just announced that were leaving Afghanistan in.
